The time has come friends to bring our bodhráns out of the house and into the streets to make glorious rhythms together! :)

I am delighted to finally share my first in person bodhrán session in what seems like a lifetime and can not wait to celebrate with you all.

The venues I had been talking to understandably had to re-jig plans once the government guidance changed on the 14th June, and now I’m delighted to finally share that the Irish Cultural Centre in Hammersmith are able to host us on the 25th July .

Where: Irish Cultural Centre Hammersmith, 5 Black's Rd, London W6 9DT ( 2 minute walk from Hammersmith station)

What time: Workshop will run 11:30am-1:00pm – please aim to arrive 5/10 minutes early so we can start promptly!

BODHRÁN EXPLORERS: THE SESSION

These workshops will be rooted in Irish traditional music with a wee bit of Scott’s and English folk for good measure! We will focus on tunes that are likely to crop up in a traditional music session and how to approach them on Bodhrán. We will work through a selection of tune specific patterns and ornaments that you can use as a foundation for building your own interpretation and dig a little deeper into the musicianship required for backing tunes on bodhrán effectively.

There will be a weekly playlist of tunes available with a selection of regularly played jig’s, reels, slides, slip jigs and hornpipes to get familiar with and build your practice around.
